Our Story

Aniya is 10 years old and is one of the most multi-talented children you will ever meet. She loves science and bugs, but is also a girly girl who loves singing and makeup and loves to be in the water swimming!

Aniya has gone through multiple surgeries her entire life but nothing would prove to be as tough as the last 3 1/2 years.

Aniya has always known some type of pain unfortunately, but this pain was something worse that turned into what Aniya knows now as what plans her day-to-day events. She was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, and even though hearing a diagnosis was great it did not do anything to stop the unbearable immobilizing pain she is still going through.

She was admitted into the hospital for a month for the pancreatitis during which she ended up needing multiple IVs that led to a central line and later a feeding tube for months.

During the last few months, we have been back and forth to the children’s hospital with Aniya going through countless test and procedures that resulted in Aniya needing a surgery that could be 12+ hours called a {TPIAT Total Pancreatectomy with islet transplant}, which will remove her pancreas, appendix, spleen, and parts of her intestines. They will then take the pancreas and remove the islets and transplant them into the liver making the liver do the job of what her pancreas is no longer doing.

Aniya will be in the hospital for a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks and will then have months of rehab, after which we are very hopeful this life saving surgery will give Aniya somewhat a normal pain-free life that she has cried and prayed for so many nights.

As you can imagine this long process comes with lifetime medical costs, so we have partnered with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association for assistance with transplant-related expenses. We are asking if you yourself, friends, family members could donate to COTA in honor of Aniya so COTA can help my daughter get a much-needed lifesaving surgery that we would all greatly appreciate.

We also are asking for continued prayers and support to making sure this surgery is successful and Aniya makes it through this battle

This is going to be the biggest ‘fight’ of her life and she cannot do this alone.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
