Progress

Today has had it’s ups and downs which is expected on the rollercoaster that is transplant.

Annabelle had a pretty good night’s sleep which was very needed.  When we arrived her left hand looked very purple, so luckily the doctors were able to remove her arteral iv.  We know this line was causing her a lot of pain, and she seemed to be much more comfortable once it was removed.  She also got the nose canula and urine catheter out (so three tubes gone in one day!). She even got a little bit of energy and wanted to sit up earlier this morning.  She can’t sit up for long but it was nice to see her in a different position other than laying in the bed.

Around mid-morning they gave her some meds which she vomited up, which is no wonder since she hasn’t had food on her stomach in days.  They were hoping to start a small amount of formula via gtube today, but they have held off since her lactate and ammonia levels are still elevated.  After that episode of throwing up she really didn’t feel like doing much else today.  She was very restless and couldn’t sleep well.  Her eye rolling has also reappeared, although the doctors have assured us that weird ticks can often be amplified after surgery.

We’re still not sure what’s causing the elevated lactate and ammonia levels since all other vitals/labs look great and she physically looks okay too.  We’re hoping to get clearer answers tomorrow and their goal is to still move Annabelle to the recovery floor soon (hopefully tomorow or Wednesday).

Please continue to pray as we aren’t at of the woods yet!

1.) Continue to pray for the donor’s family.

2.) Continue to pray that God would place exceptional nurses over Annabelle’s care.

3.) Pray that Annabelle’s ammonia and lactate levels would decline and that the doctors would be able to determine what’s causing them to elevate.

4.) Pray for no rejection, no clotting, and especially no infections (they are testing for this now since that could be a cause for the lactate).

5.) Continued pray for Annabelle’s medical team.
