Blessed with NEW Lungs…

The last three days of 2017 have been quite the rollercoaster ride for Chad. It all started mid morning on Friday when Chad received a phone call from Massachusetts General Hospital that they may have donor lungs for him, within two hours with assistance from his Parents he started his journey to Boston MGH picking up his Wife Nadine up at her place of employment and driving a hour and half in below freezing temperatures thru snow squalls to meet his Brother, Sister-In-Law and 3 week old Niece and Aunt and Uncle who are just a small part of his support team at the hospital and started preparation for his transplant to be told within a few hours that the transplant was a no go and to return home and continue to wait for the next phone call, as he had for the last two months.

Then comes Saturday morning and he receives another call from MGH placing him on transplant standby, by early afternoon Chad and his support team are all back at MGH as he starts his second transplant preparation, by 1am, Sunday morning, Chad was told it was a go for his transplant and sent off with plenty of love and encouragement from Nadine and his support team. For the next eight hours Chad’s support team between periods of rest sends out up-dates to Chad’s family and friends as they continue to ride that emotional rollercoaster praying and hoping for a positive outcome for Chad. By 10am Sunday, News Years Eve the support team is met by Chad’s Surgeon and told that the surgery was a success with no complications, and without the need of a heart/lung machine, news was met with tears of joy and excitement. This could not have become possible without the outpouring of support and prayers of Chad’s Family, Friends and complete strangers.

We also know and pray for the Family that should be celebrating the Holidays and wishing for a Happy New Year, whom lost a loved one, who has courageously donated their organs so that others like Chad may continue to celebrate life.

So needless to say, New Years wishes have been granted to Chad and his supporters as Chad starts 2018 with a new and healthier Cystic Fibrosis journey.

Congratulations Chad and good luck, you are a fighter and loved by all…

We can not close out this blog without expressing our sincerest gratitude and thanks to the many COTA supporters who have contributed to COTA for ChadC, with this continued monitory support; we will ensure that Chad lives a long and healthy life.

As I finish this Blog I received a phone call from Nadine that Chad’s breathing tube has been removed and he’s been asking for her. This is much sooner that we expected; there is that fighter that we all know in Chad.
