Day 12 – Engraftment Syndrome Confirmed!

All signs now point to engraftment syndrome and NOT infection!

Everett’s fever is gone, his heart rate and blood pressure are stable, and none of the lab cultures have yielded any positive signs of bacteria, virus, or fungus. One of the Duke staff members referred to Everett’s skin as “textbook engraftment rash.” And most importantly, his White Blood Cell (WBC) count has already began to rise.

Everett still needs a little help making sure he’s breathing in enough oxygen while sleeping, but that is completely normal at this stage and easily remedied.
