We're so excited to introduce Owen! Owen was the second child affected by a form of leukodystrophy to participate in the same stem cell transplant/DUOC study as Everett (Everett is the fourth).
Owen and his big sister, Mabry Kate, are affected by Krabbe Disease, which causes demyelination of the nervous system. Unfortunately, without early detection and the life saving transplant, Mabry Kate passed away last February at only 10 months of age.
Thankfully, Owen's family just heard from the team at Duke that his 9-month posttransplant MRI shows myelination in the center of the brain! It is such a blessing to see Owen growing, smiling, and thriving!
