TRANSPLANT DAY! – Day 0

On Wednesday afternoon, Everett received 80% of the cord blood from the matched unrelated donor. Despite a few hives—a normal reaction to the preconditioning medication—the transplant went perfectly, and he slept the entire time.

Now, we wait for Everett’s body to accept the stem cells. We need these new cells to grow and begin to produce the white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets he needs to thrive and combat the many challenges associated with PMD. Please keep those positive thoughts and prayers coming!

NOTE: Everett will receive the remaining 20% of the cord blood via lumbar injection in about a month, on Day 28.
