Defying Expectations

Iain’s goal this morning was to walk with the walker to his doorway and by the end of the week it was to be about 100ft.  This morning he kept walking out of the door.  By this afternoon he had done a solid 250 ft to the acclaim of the entire CIUC unit. He looked so strong people were utterly astonished.  Carol, his PT was positively giddy with excitement.

I want to thank everyone for your support through all of this.  We very much appreciate your well wishes, comments, the donations to the COTA site in honor of Iain, visits, cards and everything.  Thank you to Megan, Marie and my colleagues at ColdQuanta for organising a blood drive in honor of Iain.  We absolutely love all of these expressions of support and would love to thank you personally and one day I will get round to it.  You would be astounded at how busy it is at the hospital from 7.30 am onwards.  I had some thought I would be able to work or even learn a new language – fat chance.  Below Sam, Marie and Lisa with the Bonfils bus in the back.  Thank you to all who gave blood in honor of Iain.  Not to mention all those in the St. Louis region whose blood saved Iain.  And thank you again to the donor family.
