Show “Love” For Nolan Turner, Kidney Transplant Patient
May 12, 9:00am-Until, $20 member + Donations

ONSC will host a round robin style tennis benefit on Saturday, May 12, from 9:00am until we’re tired of playing! The benefit is for Nolan Turner, a family member of ONSC Tennis Assistant Lilley Brookshire. Nolan recently received a kidney transplant and is doing well, but still needs financial assistance for continuing care after the procedure. Please read the following from family member Sarah Moore regarding the situation and how to help:

“The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a 501C3 and all donations go to COTA to be used for Nolan’s transplant-related expenses. Donations are 100% tax deductible.

COTA created a webpage for Nolan to receive contributions and to keep people updated on his situation. You can go to the webpage and use your credit card or mail a check. Checks should be written to ‘COTAforNolanT’. www.COTAforNolanT.com

Here are the specifics on his medical issues.

Nolan is 18 and was born with spina bifida. Complications of the spina bifida caused his kidneys to fail in summer 2017. He began dialysis in late summer and did dialysis 3 times per week for four hours each time until he received his new kidney transplant in April.

While Nolan has private insurance through his mom’s work and medicare, COTA estimates that transfer-related expenses will be $50,000. This includes lodging, food and transportation during the transplant stay; post-transplant medications and medical care costs often add up to more than $10,000 annually; most insurance providers require a family to pay an annual deductible that can exceed $10,000 and require a copayment for each visit to the doctor, clinic or for individual medical tests; no plan pays all transplant-related expenses and even a ‘solid’ insurance plan may only cover 80% of the ‘normal and customary’ expenses incurred within a pre-determined network or at a specific hospital.”

With this info in mind, I hope we can come together as a community and assist with Nolan’s medical costs. The tennis will be fun for all levels with a bigger goal in mind than winning on the court. Thank you in advance for your efforts.

*$20 entry includes tennis and a light lunch served at 11:30am. Welcome to play as long as you like!

Thank You,
