Stage I the Norwood procedure provides the patient with circulation to the body by using the right ventricle as the main pump and the circulation to the lungs comes from a shunt or conduit that is placed from an artery or from the right ventricle to the lungs. This scene is not unfamiliar to parents of children with congenital heart disease. God was gracious and Daniel pulled through this surgery and was released from hospital after about 30 days.
