We are less than ten hours from the ‘official’ start of our transplant journey. Sunday, October 16, 2016 Paul. Erin and I will drive over 7 hours to St. Louis for a week long transplant evaluation. Monday thru Thursday, 8:00am-4:00pm, our schedule is jam packed full of tests, education, therapy, counseling, more tests, more education, more tests, more education, etc. We are extremely ‘nervicited’ (our new term that best describes what we are feeling, both nervous and excited at the same time!). It has been a rough couple of weeks on our end, going from almost looking too healthy for a transplant to multiple doctor visits and a hospital admission. We followed up with Erin’s doctor in Milwaukee on Wednesday and if we weren’t scheduled to go to St. Louis they would have admitted her again. Her lung function was down to 27% and she was clearly struggling. She still has moments where she looks ‘good’ but we are ready for this new journey to begin; we are ‘nervicited’ for the possibilities that lie ahead of us.
