February 2 – It’s a New Year!

Hello every one.  I apologize for taking so long to blog.  But when my surgeon said that the first 3 weeks would be my worst, she was not kidding. Surgery was hard but going through Hemodialysis is even harder.  I am thankful that I am back on Periteneal Dialysis and doing it at home.  I am feeling almost 100% after the surgery.  I feel so much better now that my native kidneys have been removed.  It was indeed a weight off my shoulders.  No more hernias and kidney pain.  GOD is an awesome GOD. My surgeon said that together my polycystic kidneys weighed 10lbs.  That is alot when one normal kidney weighs 5 ounces.  I am blessed and thankful for all the support I received from COTA, friends, family and co-workers.  Thanks to COTA, I was able to maintain my household expenses while I was on medical leave from my job.  I wanted to personally thank Rebecca in COTA Family Services.  I know there were some days that I sounded like I was on my last leg and she was able to make things happen for me.  I am so grateful for her and the work that COTA Family Services provides to patient like me waiting for a transplant. There is truly a need and COTA was there for me to pick up the pieces.  Once I am back up to speed I will let you know of more fundraisers and events TeamChelleK will starting in March.  Once again thank you all for your support and prayers.
