A race

I just posted on a friend’s FB page who generously shared our fundraising site that this is truly a race for life for Allie to get lungs. The wait is brutal every minute that I sit and watch her life support machines. They weaned down her ECMO some but she didn’t tolerate that so settings are back to where they were prior. Her white count is back up again, very worrisome to me. Whenever they beat down one bacteria, it or another just comes back with more resistance to the antibiotics. Her blood pressure was low last night. She got albumin and a gentle bolus of IV fluids. It’s all a balancing dilemma. They like to keep pre-transplant patients on the dry side. I just keep praying she will get to transplant and make it through and making bargains with God. I was glad to hear we are at the center most experienced with ex-vivo lung perfusion. I was told there are 5 experts in the country and two of them are at UPMC caring for Allison. I’ll post more on ex-vivo but you can google it or EVLP to learn more in the meantime. Please continue to pray for her and to spread the word for donations at www.COTAforAllieD.com
