Meet Arabella

You may think you don’t know a child who needs a transplant, but you do.

Since July 2017, Arabella has been kept alive on 10 hours of nightly dialysis in our home after being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease at her 11 year old well care exam. Without dialysis or a kidney transplant, she will not survive.

To give you perspective, she is pictured with most of the supplies it takes to keep her alive for one month. She is 5’6” and her boxes are as tall as she is.

If you didn’t know she was critically ill, you wouldn’t guess by looking at her. Since July, Arabella has been hospitalized with 5 surgeries and 3 additional stays. On Easter weekend, she had both kidneys removed. The most recent photos on her mom’s FB have shown her after this surgery. You cannot guess how people are just by how they look on social media.

We’ve appreciated people’s prayers and friendship as we’ve walked this long road—one we never expected. We’ve chosen to partner with COTA because of their mission to help transplant-needy children and adults.  It’s our hope that Arabella will soon be listed for transplant. We’re happy to answer questions. If you’re like we were, you may have no idea how critical your kidneys are to every part of your life. Please feel free to share COTAforArabella.com and join us on Facebook.

We hope to inspire you with Arabella’s strength and determination. We hope you’ll keep your well care exams—for yourself and your children. We would love to have your support for Arabella’s campaign for COTA. We hope you’ll sign up to be an organ donor. Someone you love may depend on it. ????
