Home is where the Heart Is. &#8211; January 1, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>4 weeks went by after Open Heart Surgery, and family got to go home February 4, 2021. Adriel had showed the doctors that the surgery had worked and his lab markers were stable. The doctors also hoped that with medicine, and as Adriel continued to grow, that his heart would also grow and heal the lower left scarring that was left and that had not been developing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The doctors had widened his aorta, but he had a lot of lower left scarring left or dead tissue left from his heart not pumping correctly and causing damage to the heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The doctors still had a lot of concerns, but thought he was stable enough to go home. The family was discharged from the hospital and went home on the cardiac home monitoring program. Usually, only kids that received the Fonton procedure went home on that program, but Adriel was a special case and a special baby! They wanted to make sure he would gain weight and stay stable at home, especially with home being located in Northeastern Indiana 2.5 hours away from Riley Children&#8217;s Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adriel was considered to also be one of the longest patient on the home monitoring program that is ran by Dana Hartman, NP.  Mom described her as &#8220;Our Family Angel,&#8221; as it was nerve recking being home with not only a newborn, but a newborn with cardiac precautions. Mom and dad felt that they had numerous questions for Dana at first! <br><br>Everyday mom had to weigh him, check his oxygen and heart rate, and put into an iPad his data with inputs and outputs.
