As we often say, recovery and healing are never linear. Baby steps are<\/em> big steps\u2014and setbacks are part of the journey. This week brought one of those challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aidan began experiencing some concerning bleeding. His incredible team at NYU Langone Hassenfeld Children\u2019s Hospital moved swiftly into action\u2014ordering lab work, ultrasounds, and eventually a CT scan when the symptoms didn\u2019t improve. Within just a few hours, the operating room was prepped and ready to investigate further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nichole was there every moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few (thankfully, only a few) hours later, Aidan\u2019s surgeon came out with relieving news: Aidan had developed a hematoma, which was successfully removed, and his new liver slightly repositioned. They also replaced a biliary clip. Most importantly\u2014no infection was found. Hooray<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aidan was soon back to resting comfortably, and Nichole could finally take a deep breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And today brought another baby step\u2014literally. Aidan was up and able to take a few steps with the help of his <\/strong>team!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aidan making it look easy. Out of bed, comfortably sitting up in his recliner (I think we should give him a crown and refer to that as his throne; he loves being the King!) Nichole is on her 4th book!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s photo is one of strength and endurance. Aidan\u2019s battle continues\u2014and he is meeting it with courage, one step at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
