{"id":213,"date":"2026-10-08T23:02:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T23:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforaidansbattle\/?p=213"},"modified":"2026-10-15T13:58:19","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T13:58:19","slug":"knock-knock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforaidansbattle\/2026\/10\/08\/knock-knock\/","title":{"rendered":"Knock, knock!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ll skip to the punchline! <br><br>It&#8217;s Lenny the Liver!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well\u2026 it\u2019s been a minute. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\u2764\ufe0f\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/ted\/2\/16\/2764.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Somehow, in the middle of everything life has thrown at us, we realized we haven\u2019t given everyone a proper update on Aidan \u2014 or Lenny the Liver \u2014 in quite some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And what a year it has been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf82\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/ta4\/2\/16\/1f382.png\"> Lenny the Liver turned ONE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One whole year since Aidan received his life-saving transplant and our family got to celebrate a milestone we once weren\u2019t sure we would ever see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf93\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tc4\/2\/16\/1f393.png\"> Aidan moved up to 8th grade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next stop: HIGH SCHOOL. Somehow we went from hospital rooms and transplant lists to talking about high school. That still feels a little surreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf82\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/ta4\/2\/16\/1f382.png\"> And Aidan turned 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fourteen! He continues to grow, learn, make us laugh, drive us slightly crazy, and generally be the amazing kid he has always been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, transplant life isn&#8217;t exactly a happily-ever-after where everyone walks off into the sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are still hospitalizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are still blood draws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are still medications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are still appointments, monitoring, labs, and the constant awareness that we have to watch for anything that could knock Aidan off the incredible path he is on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are still insurmountable medical expenses ahead of us, but our pride in Aidan&#8217;s fight keeps us moving forward. More fundraising coming up!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He&#8217;s growing. He&#8217;s going to school. He&#8217;s turning 14. He&#8217;s making plans for high school. He&#8217;s doing the ordinary teenage things that, at one point, felt anything but ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But here&#8217;s the thing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is on that path.
