And the truth is\u2026 it looks a lot like any other 3-year-old\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wakes up full of energy.
He wants to play, laugh, explore, and get into everything.
He\u2019s silly, curious, and full of personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most days, you would never know what his little body is going through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But behind the scenes, there\u2019s so much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are medications around the clock.
There are feeds 4x a day with boluses pedialyte and water.
There are appointments, labs, and constant monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are moments where I have to pause and think about things most parents never have to think about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is he drinking enough?
Is he feeling okay?
Is anything changing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every day is a balance between letting him just be a kid\u2026 and making sure he stays healthy and safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then there\u2019s the part that never really goes away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even on the most normal days, it\u2019s always there in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are still waiting for a kidney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waiting for the call.
Waiting for the right match.
Waiting for the moment that will change everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Benjamin doesn\u2019t carry that weight the way I do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He just lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He plays hard.
He laughs loud.
He loves deeply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in so many ways, he reminds me to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This journey is not easy.
Some days feel heavier than others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But every single day, I am reminded of how strong he is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And how grateful I am to be his mom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So for now, we hold onto the normal moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The laughter.
The chaos.
The joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because even in the middle of everything\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
