April 19, 2026 is a day I don\u2019t think I will ever forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We got the call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The call we had been waiting on. The call that felt like it could change everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Benjamin was going to receive a kidney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Everything started moving quickly. There was a mix of emotions\u2014fear, hope, nerves\u2014but more than anything, we felt like this was it. Like his miracle had finally come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We made it all the way to the operating room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was on the table. The surgeon was preparing the kidney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then\u2026 everything stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The surgeon noticed that the kidney had been damaged during the recovery process. They told us that if it had been transplanted, there was a high chance it could clot off and fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So they made the decision not to proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just like that, the surgery was over before it even began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s hard to explain the feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To get that close\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To believe this was the moment\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then to have it taken away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was heartbreaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Disappointing in a way that sits heavy in your chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But at the same time, we are grateful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grateful for a team that was careful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grateful they didn\u2019t take a risk that could have caused more harm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grateful that Benjamin is still here, still fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This journey is not easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are highs that feel so close to a miracle\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
and lows that remind you how uncertain everything really is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So today, we take a breath, regroup, and keep going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are still waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still hoping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still praying for the right kidney\u2014the one meant for Benjamin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
