After a moment like that\u2026 everything feels quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The kind of quiet that comes after so much build-up.
After hope rises so high\u2026 and then suddenly falls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
April 19th was supposed to be the day everything changed for Benjamin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in a way, it did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just not in the way we had prayed for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since that day, I\u2019ve been sitting with a lot of emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Disappointment.
Heartbreak.
Confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But also\u2026 gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gratitude for a surgical team that chose to protect him.
Gratitude that they didn\u2019t move forward with something that could have caused more harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even when it hurts, I know they made the right decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still, it\u2019s hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s hard to go from \u201cthis is it\u201d to \u201cwe\u2019re still waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s hard to explain to people that we were so close\u2026 and now we\u2019re back in the same place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But this journey has taught me something I keep coming back to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just because it didn\u2019t happen that day\u2026 doesn\u2019t mean it won\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Benjamin\u2019s miracle didn\u2019t disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It just wasn\u2019t that kidney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So now, we take a deep breath\u2026 and we keep going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We keep showing up to appointments.
We keep monitoring his labs.
We keep doing everything we can to keep him strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And we keep hoping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hoping for the right match.
Hoping for the right timing.
Hoping for the kidney that is meant for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
