Collin is doing really good!  His lungs have been a little hazy, so he has been putting in overtime on doing his respiratory exercises!!  He is now on 15L, down from 25 high flow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s plan is to get this boy moving!  Most of his IV meds have been removed and he is down to one PIV and his PICC (IJ will be removed soon). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nutrition-wise he is restricted to 10g of fat and low sugar intake.  Some of his meds are causing his sugars to spike, so we are minimizing his sugar intake by mouth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctors think by mid week he should be moved to stepdown unit, which means he is one step closer to being out the door!  All of the staff here are amazed by his progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So a few facts: Collin is the FIRST patient to receive a heart\/liver transplant at Arthur M Blank.  The last one was back in 2021, and that patient was unfortunately very sick going into the transplant and did not make it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also pre-transplant the heart and liver team immediately started working on preparing the entire staff, that includes RT, RN\u2019s, ICU docs and anyone who could possibly come in contact with Collin.  This isn\u2019t an easy surgery to prepare for, but Chris and I are very impressed with each and every person who has taken care of Collin thus far.  We call them The A Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for thinking and praying for our boy.
