Hi everyone and I hope you all had wonderful holidays. I just got some information today about Dylan and thought I would share. Unfortunately the information is a bit challenging, but as we all know there are always going to be setbacks and difficulties with a procedure and transplant as extensive as Dylan’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Over the past week Dylan’s labs have shown that her liver enzymes have been increasing rather than staying nice and low as we would want them to. This is not great but is not super unusual after transplant and indicates that Dylan’s body is catching onto the fact that there is a new and different liver in there. The team of doctors have also ordered a biopsy of Dylan’s liver so that they can check on the health of Dylan’s liver cells. What this means is that Dylan will likely have to start some even more intensive immunotherapies. She may have to be readmitted to the hospital for a few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course this is not the greatest of news but we are trying to keep positive. Other notes of concern the doctors have had is Dylan’s continued difficulties with digestion and her stomach rejecting food quite a bit. This has resulted in some of Dylan’s physiological metrics decreasing to the point where the doctors would like to see her have a feeding tube put back to ensure her nutrition is sufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[[[ I may not know a lot, but I’m gonna be really blunt and say that I know Dylan is NOT<\/strong> happy at all about that piece of news. Dylan I’m so sorry and I know it sucks, none of us would be happy about that news and we all feel deeply for you. Sending hugs for sure. ]]]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are hoping that it may only have to be a part of Dylan’s care for a few days to get her nutrition back on track so that she can resume more normal living again. \ud83e\udd1e To us as supporters I understand that this can be very frustrating to read, and I can assure you that Dylan and her caregivers are also struggling to absorb the news. Even the scheduling difficulties over the past few days with the labs, upper GI scan, ultrasound, biopsy, etc on top of her regular appointments have been really unsettling and hard to keep track of in communicating with the team of different doctors working on Dylan’s case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, I cannot help but feel such gratitude for the gift Dylan has received from someone in our world. Something of this magnitude I can’t totally understand or wrap my head around. It continues to amaze me that it is even possible. We are confident things will get back on track and reading online about all of the journeys transplant patients have undergone, well, it makes me realize that there is such strength and grace in the world. This will be a tough year for Dylan and her family, and we are sending all of our love and encouragement and hope for them each day. \u2764\ufe0f Much love to you all and wishing you a happy New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
