Eric is currently facing acute kidney failure, and while those words carry weight, we\u2019re holding tight to hope and celebrating every small win we can find.

This afternoon, they successfully inserted the Vas Cath (a large-bore central venous catheter used to provide access for dialysis). Unfortunately, they had to use the same site where he previously had a Vas Cath placed. His skin is incredibly sensitive right now, and that area already had a wound that was healing. Please pray for his comfort, especially as he continues to manage pain and healing on multiple fronts.

Shortly after the line was placed, dialysis began. The machine is running now and will continue through the night. It\u2019s a precautionary but important step as his body works to recover and find balance again.

Initially, doctors thought Eric was passing kidney stones, but his kidney specialist clarified that he actually has nephrocalcinosis (a condition where calcium deposits build up in the kidneys). This is what\u2019s been blocking his urine output, not stones. It\u2019s a tough diagnosis, but it also gives us a clearer picture of what we\u2019re dealing with and how to move forward.

Despite everything, there\u2019s hope. Eric has started to pee a little on his own, which means his kidneys are still trying. And before the transplant, his kidney function was excellent. That strong foundation gives us hope that this setback may be reversible.

And then there\u2019s Eric\u2019s determination. Today, he walked all the way to the front door of the next room. OT says he\u2019s doing great. He\u2019s strong, focused, and understandably tired. Our goal is to keep him up and walking at least twice a day. We\u2019ll take it one step at a time\u2014literally.
