<\/a>Lately, Evelyn and I have been having our nightly \u201cpillow talks\u201d \u2014 cuddled up, reflecting on our day together. We talk about what went good, what could\u2019ve been better, and dream about what her birthday might look like here in the hospital versus being home.<\/p>\n\n\n\nShe tells me how much she wants to go to her favorite restaurant, The Muddy Cow, when she finally gets home. She talks about playing with her friends, running around the living room, and just being a kid again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I asked her what would make her hospital room feel more like home. Her answers? Bringing in her Alexa Echo Dot to play music, hanging more pictures of her brother, and having her food truck toy nearby.
And then she looked at me and said, \u201cI can\u2019t wait to get a heart so that I can go home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
