After 14 long months, Jax has officially been taken off cyclosporine, the immunosuppressant that\u2019s been a huge part of his life since transplant. This marks a major step forward for his healing immune system and brings renewed hope for long-term health and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even more good news: doctors have also said Jax won\u2019t have to come to the hospital quite as often. For a young boy\u2014and a family who\u2019s been balancing constant hospital visits, long drives, missed work, and interrupted fun\u2014this \u201cbi-week\u201d break is a much-welcomed breath of fresh air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At his last appointment in late June, Jax&#8217;s lab numbers were the best they\u2019ve ever been. If things keep trending in this positive direction, he may be dropping a few more medications in the coming weeks. Every small step forward is a huge victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To support Jax and his family, we\u2019re hosting a fundraiser on&nbsp;<strong>Wednesday, July 17<\/strong>, at <strong>Chick-fil-A on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston<\/strong>. From&nbsp;<strong>6 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/strong>, any order placed through the&nbsp;<strong>Chick-fil-A app<\/strong>&nbsp;using the code&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Jaxson&#8221;<\/strong>&nbsp;will help cover Jax\u2019s lifetime of transplant-related expenses.
