{"id":411,"date":"2025-10-15T12:56:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T12:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforgillianstpiat\/?p=411"},"modified":"2025-11-05T15:13:04","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T15:13:04","slug":"6-month-follow-up-in-ohio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforgillianstpiat\/2025\/10\/15\/6-month-follow-up-in-ohio\/","title":{"rendered":"6 Month Follow up in Ohio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We\u2019re flying home today from Gillian\u2019s six-month follow-up, and what a difference six months can make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At her three-month check, I already knew the surgery was worth it\u2014her debilitating pain was finally gone\u2014but it still didn\u2019t feel like she was living the life she wanted. Now, at six months, we\u2019re in a completely different place. Gillian no longer takes any pain medication, her team is slowly weaning her off insulin, and they\u2019re optimistic about the road ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We talked about how Gillian has started running again, and when she mentioned feeling a sharp pain while running, the doctor and nurse both said , \u201cAll I heard is that you\u2019re RUNNING! What!? That\u2019s amazing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a girl who spent much of the last 2\u00bd years in bed because of pain, those words mean everything. Yes\u2014she\u2019s running again. This amazing young woman continues to be my hero.<br>I don\u2019t even know how to begin to express the depth of our gratitude for your love, prayers, and generous support. You helped us reach the COTA Challenge Grant for COTA for Gillian&#8217;s TPIAT and gave Gillian the chance to heal, to move, and to live again.
