It has been a very rough 24 hours. Jack continues to be nauseous now with no real break between bouts. He\u2019s throwing up more fluids than he\u2019s taking in, and had to be hooked back up to fluids this afternoon. His iv started lea site, so he had to get it removed. We are now waiting to have another put in\u2026his fear of needles is high but luckily, so far he seems ok with the concept. He\u2019s currently getting two shots a day plus finger pricks every hour and handling it like a champ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also continues to go hypoglycemic, although today was better than the past two. The pancreas team thinks it\u2019s his islet cells trying to do their job but they need to rest! Hopefully it\u2019s a good sign for future results.

When he\u2019s not throwing up or curled up in pain, he\u2019s chatting up a storm to his nurses, so he is still in good spirits! He loves all the staff and keeps telling me they look like they should be celebrities they\u2019re so pretty. He is full of compliments to everyone around. Needless to say, they\u2019ll listen to his long stories for his flattery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Jack was having a rough morning, John and I swapped so I could have some time with the siblings. We went on an adventure to a local park and explored Highfield Discovery Garden. It was really great to spend time with the rest of my crew but I was anxious to get back to Jack\u2019s side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it\u2019s hard to see him so miserable, the doctors are not concerned and said it tends to be how the healing process goes. He still has a feeding tube going into his intestines 16 hours a day so he is getting nutrients. I have to remind myself it\u2019s only been nine days since they rerouted his digestive system\u2026just because he\u2019s in good spirits and moving around fine doesn\u2019t mean the insides are back to normal. Fingers crossed we have a quieter night and a smoother morning tomorrow! <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
