we have made it to 3 weeks post-op. It feels like forever but also just hours since surgery. While it was so nice to not sleep in the hospital last night, it also felt like having a newborn with many sleep interruptions between keeping the tube feeding going (make new formula mix every 4 hours) and checking glucose levels every three hours. Not to mention the learning curve of figuring out the tube feeding and it was a long night. Just 24 hours later, we are already feeling more confident about the night. We also invested in an immersion blender so hopefully no clogged tubes tonight \ud83e\udd1e
Jack spent most the day getting caught up on class work with just one appointment at the hospital. Tomorrow we have a couple more appointments and plan to get the schoolwork done early so we can go exploring in the afternoon.

knock on wood, Jack has kept food down for a couple days now and is also eating more and more each day. While he still has bouts of nausea, he seems to generally feel good. He comments multiple times a day how strange it is to not be in pain. He has said over and over this is the longest he\u2019s ever gone without pain, and if that isn\u2019t a kick to the stomach I don\u2019t know what is. I\u2019m so glad we went this route as much as I didn\u2019t want this path for us. The fact that his recovery from a 10 hour surgery has been easier than his normal pancreatitis hospitalization is still hard to comprehend. Every other time we have been in patient, he was writhing in pain begging for someone to make it stop. I guess I had anticipated 8 weeks of that. Instead, he only cried from pain maybe twice and not once did he wail or scream from the intense pain begging for reprieve. Much less traumatic! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
