If the last ten weeks have been a marathon, Jake is officially in the home stretch. He has transitioned to the rehab floor, and the shift in energy is incredible. He has been working incredibly hard with his new therapy teams. His physical, occupational, and speech therapists have gone out of their way to applaud his work ethic and determination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recovery where it would be easy to feel defeated, Jake\u2019s grit stands out. He is tackling every session and every goal and he has the whole floor rooting for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest victories is Jake\u2019s progress with eating. We have officially stopped using his NG tube for daytime feeds and he is able to eat his meals by mouth, only utilizing the ng for supplemental nutrition overnight. We are hopeful that even those overnight feeds will be discontinued very soon. Watching him regain this piece of his independence is a huge boost for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every day, Jake is getting stronger, steadier, and more confident. He is navigating these final steps with excitement and a clear goal in mind. We are hopeful that next week will be our finish line. We are ready for him to finish this chapter, leave these hospital walls behind, and finally ring that bell<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
