This Thursday, Jacob is undergoing his 11th cath since transplant but this one is a little different. This is his 6-month post-transplant cath, a significant milestone in his recovery. It\u2019s a day of big nerves and even bigger hopes as we look for the “all clear\u201d. If he is negative for rejection, he will get a much anticipated three-month break before another cath is needed. During this trip he will also be visiting with his liver team and ENT. We are calling on our prayer warriors once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amidst the preparations for Thursday, this week is also a time to recognize the everyday heroes who kept the littles anchored this year.While this year has been a whirlwind of hospital days, procedure and recovery for Jake; for the littles, it has been days with and without Mom and Dad, a lack of routine and a new “normal.” However, Ben and Addie could always rely on the steady grace and love they received from their teachers at Concordia. They provided the extra attention needed on the hard days and shared in the smiles on the good ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ben’s teacher has to start the list. He has been one of Ben\u2019s biggest cheerleaders, ensuring he stays motivated and on track. When life was hectic, he went above and beyond to keep Ben going. He was also Jake’s teacher during the chaos of COVID. He was a blessing to us then and he continues to be a blessing to our family today. We also want to give a shout-out to the student teacher working with Ben\u2019s class. Navigating her own path and finishing a degree is no small feat, yet she showed up every day and helped navigate what has been a truly crazy year for us. Ben has also been working with an amazing tutor at school. We are so thankful for the gift of her time and talents. In just a few weeks she is building a new sense of confidence in Ben. We are so grateful she chose to be part of his story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every morning Addie\u2019s teacher has provided a soft place for Addie. Shecreated a classroom filled with empathy, giving Addie the grace to just “be” and the comfort of knowing she was safe when everything seemed uncertain. Her kindness has been a huge part of Addie\u2019s resilience when dealing with the harsh realities of Jake’s journey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, we must express our love for a very special teacher from Jacob\u2019s Concordia days. She was his safe space and her belief in him taught him a strength and resilience that he relies on every single day of this journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transplant journeys are marathons, and we are so lucky to have such incredible people running alongside us. Please keep these amazing teachers and Jacob in your prayers this week. We are leaning on our community as we push toward this 6-month milestone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
