{"id":43,"date":"2018-12-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cota1.wpengine.com\/cotaforjasperd\/2018\/12\/03\/gastric-port\/"},"modified":"2018-12-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T00:00:00","slug":"gastric-port","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforjasperd\/2018\/12\/03\/gastric-port\/","title":{"rendered":"Gastric Port"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jasper underwent a surgey on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 to replace his nasal-gastric tube with a gastric port.&nbsp; This device allows formula and other liquids to be placed directly into Jasper&#8217;s stomach and alleviates the need for the long tube going down his throat.&nbsp; We hope that the gastric port will reduce the mucus draining from his sinuses and allow Jasper to swallow more efficiently.&nbsp; Jasper&#8217;s epiglotis doesn&#8217;t react as rapidly as it should but&nbsp; without the tube going down his throat his epiglotis may begin to function as it should.
