This is her sixth room in 41 days: B611, B619, A644, B635, B622, and now A651. I’m hoping and praying it’s Lauren’s last room and she’ll be discharged in 2-3 weeks.

Lauren did not sleep well last night, so it’s been a quiet day. She’s been napping more than usual. She tried eating a little food for lunch, but had very little appetite. She needs to start eating more soon since she’s lost weight these past six weeks, but she still has the ng tube for night feeds. We just went for a walk around the A unit, which seems busier than the ICU. Lots of babies and kids, even the occasional adult. Maybe Lauren will make a friend? At 1:30 pm we watched a 7th birthday party on the TV for Chevy, the therapy dog. Lauren is hoping for a visit soon. We also opened several more cards today. Thank you so much! Lauren opened them all herself and read them carefully. They really perked her up! If you would like to send a card, Lauren’s address while we’re here is:

Cincinnati Children’s
Patient Mail-Room A651
Lauren Makuh
3333 Burnet Avenue
Cincinnati, Ohio 45229

Lauren had her wound vac removed from her chest yesterday, but she still has pacing wires because she had a quick tachycardia event Monday night. They want to keep them for a few more days just to be safe. Poor Sweetie also has several wounds from the surgery, the chest tubes, and the VAD driveline we check regularly. We are still waiting on the biopsy results from yesterday and the echo results from this morning. Finally, Lauren will start cardiac rehab soon to help get her strength and endurance back. Physical Therapy mentioned Lauren will learn just how far her new heart can go compared to her old one because she’s so used to limiting herself with her HLHS heart.

Around noon today Lauren moved out of the ICU to Room A651 at Cincinnati Children’s.
