Today marks one month from when Lily received her new heart.\u00a0 It hasn\u2019t been all rainbows and sunshine but the shift is beginning.\u00a0 The house has been filled with laughter the last few days.\u00a0 Lily\u2019s energy is increasing and her \u201cold\u201d
self is returning.\u00a0 Verona and Lily laugh
together all day long, it\u2019s beautiful to watch.<\/p>
Little did we know Lily\u2019s heart was failing until last June.\u00a0 Signs were subtle and slow moving; even her PCP wasn\u2019t concerned with what we expressed to him.\u00a0 Leg pain is just growing pains.\u00a0 Eating little is a picky eater.\u00a0 We were brushed off and made to feel like hypochondriacs.\u00a0 Our persistence paid off and we were able to catch her restrictive cardiomyopathy before it was too late.<\/p>
The journey was tough and unfathomable at times.\u00a0 There were moments of self-doubt, but there was no tapping out.\u00a0 We took it day byday and moved a few mountains on the way.\u00a0 Here we are, one grateful family.<\/p>
