{"id":42,"date":"2023-03-19T21:16:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-19T21:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforlilysheart\/?p=42"},"modified":"2024-05-17T21:18:00","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T21:18:00","slug":"march-19-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforlilysheart\/2023\/03\/19\/march-19-2\/","title":{"rendered":"March 19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Monday at 5 PM we received the call of a heart being available.&nbsp; We were getting ready to go when they told us to pump our brakes and come in the next evening as they were procuring the donor\u2019s other organ\u2019s.&nbsp; The cardiologist said it was the perfect heart for her (whatever that means).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We arrived at Children\u2019s Hospital 3 PM Tuesday and went in for surgery 8:30 AM Wednesday.&nbsp; Five hours of holding our breath was the most difficult time of my life!!&nbsp; Leading into the surgery and during, you just don\u2019t know if you\u2019ll see her again frankly; nerve racking!!&nbsp; The implant was a success and the next 48-72 hours were expected to be a roller coaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That night Lily woke ahead of schedule and had her breathing tube removed.&nbsp; In three days, she went from being connected from 13 machines to zero.&nbsp; Today, Lily was moved out of the ICU and into a much more comfortable space.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road to recovery is looking positive but the poor thing has been through so much.&nbsp; It\u2019s been traumatic, but better days are ahead.&nbsp; A wide range of emotions the last few days but we\u2019re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.&nbsp; Lily is one tough cookie and Jenny Palan has been a rockstar mom; both are inspiring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monday at 5 PM we received the call of a heart being available.&nbsp; We were getting ready to go when they told us to pump our brakes and come in the next evening as they were procuring the donor\u2019s other organ\u2019s.&nbsp; The cardiologist said it was the perfect heart for her (whatever that means).
