He lost a lot of blood and required a massive transfusion followed by subsequent transfusions of platelets and blood. He lost many IVs and required another PICC placement. He spent a lot of time restless on the ventilator because he wasn\u2019t being well sedated. But yesterday, numbers started to look better and yesterday evening he was extubated. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was on a type of oxygen that pushes a lot of air into the nose, so his belly got very full of air. With his belly being so distended and heavy, it made his breathing hard and fast. Usually the treatment got fast and heavy breathing is the type of oxygen he was getting, but the team decided to cut that in case it was causing the distention. Now we are just playing around with simethicone, suppositories, and gastric decompression to get his belly back to normal. Luckily his liver labs and blood labs look good. We should be looking at getting the last chest tube out today.
