Logan has officially moved on to phase III of the post-surgery plan. With his adenovirus down to 3,600 (it had peaked at viral load of 51,000) and a successful biopsy report, Logan got cleared for chemo Monday night. So on Tuesday we moved from the post-transplant floor back up to our old stomping grounds on 5 Tower (the oncology floor). On Wednesday he started his first round of post-transplant chemo, a cocktail of carboplatin and etoposide. It\u2019s a 21 day cycle with the chemo administered on days 1 and 2\u2026 and then for the next 19 days we\u2019ll manage the side effects (low platelets, neutropenia, nausea, his liver function and immunosuppressants, etc). He has so far been in good spirits and very happy to be reunited with some of his favorite primary oncology nurses. He had another scope and biopsy this morning and preliminary opinion is that things look good. Assuming the biopsy comes back showing no rejection, we may opt to pause scoping for the next 10 days as we anticipate his platelets to drop because of chemo which puts him at higher risk for bleeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other Logan news, he\u2019s up to about half and half on his TPN vs g-tube feeds which is incredible. He has progressed to full strength formula and has been tolerating it well which is a huge win for his intestines. We\u2019ll hold the course for the time being while we deal with chemo but hopefully we can continue to increase his volume and fully wean him off TPN by the time we go home.

Otherwise, everything seems stable (yay!). He\u2019ll continue on his antiviral treatment for adenovirus and candida for now and he also started up penicillin (since he has no spleen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re looking forward to a nice Easter weekend (Logan and Riley are plotting to hide eggs all around the hospital) and celebrating this cleansing time. This holiday is a time of rebirth- and the promise of glorious gifts ahead. We are so so thankful to be at this stage and continue praying for steady progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
