Lucas’ transplant surgery went very smoothly.<\/p>\n

It’s absolutely mindblowing that it’s even a possibility. Our skilled surgeon was very pleased with the new heart, and said the surgery went as well as it could. <\/p>\n

Lucas is in the ICU, and it’s been buzzing with activity. We were only allowed to be together for a short period, and then back to only 1 parent at a time. Difficult. <\/p>\n

This will be a difficult and critical few days. Lucas’ lung pressures have been high, and the new heart is having a tough time adapting. Lucas also has a fever of 102, which is concerning. <\/p>\n

We’re feeling fried, exhausted, scared, anxious, excited, nervous, grateful….probably 100 other feelings. <\/p>\n
