Friends, thank you for your continued prayers for Miranda. Yesterday morning we received an encouraging update that Miranda has regained some expression which will enable her to communicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is now able to open and close her eyes on command! So far, she is using four very clear and intentional facial responses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Close eyes<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Open eyes<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Raise eyebrows<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Smile (with eyes)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This will allow her to be able to communicate either \u2018yes\u2019 or \u2018no\u2019 through a code correlating to expressions.  This is a breakthrough and represents a concrete step forward. Joel said yesterday was the first time he \u201cfelt like there might be a light at the end of this long dark tunnel.\u201d Being able to communicate with Miranda has buoyed his spirits quite a bit, and we will pray that more encouraging steps are on the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Please keep praying that she will continue to regain further function and cognitive ability. This is one step in what has already been a longer than expected journey, but let\u2019s pray that she continues to take step after step.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
