{"id":77,"date":"2020-01-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cota1.wpengine.com\/cotaformykajoy\/2020\/01\/22\/liver-biopsy-tomorrow-1-23-for-myka-joy\/"},"modified":"2020-01-22T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-01-22T00:00:00","slug":"liver-biopsy-tomorrow-1-23-for-myka-joy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaformykajoy\/2020\/01\/22\/liver-biopsy-tomorrow-1-23-for-myka-joy\/","title":{"rendered":"Liver Biopsy TOMORROW (1\/23) for Myka Joy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&rsquo;re tremendously grateful for so many of you that have supported our family throughout Myka&rsquo;s life, genetic disease and Liver Transplant journey!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; Thanks for your continued support and encouragement.&nbsp;<\/span>She&rsquo;s made great strides over the last couple of years and focused on improving many secondary issues over the last 12-18 months during a season of health.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>We wanted to quickly update everyone tonight because Myka will be headed to the Operating Room <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>early tomorrow morning<\/em><\/span> for the first time in over a year.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the last month has resulted in several rounds of abnormal blood work which signals high &ldquo;liver numbers.&rdquo; Her ALT \/ AST \/ GGTP are elevated and rising to concerning (yet not<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>alarming) levels, according to her Transplant and Hepatology doctors.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>We&rsquo;re grateful for a stable ultrasound last week that showed very mild bile duct dilation (consistent with previous imagining) and good blood flow to all arteries.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>The doctors want to explore the possibility of Myka experiencing &ldquo;mild rejection&rdquo; of her liver, so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they&rsquo;ll proceed with a Liver Biopsy tomorrow morning<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Report time is 6:30am, so her Liver Biopsy will most likely take place between 7:30am &#8211; 9:00am.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Our hope and prayer is for a successful biopsy procedure, no setbacks from anesthesia, quick recovery <\/em><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>(w\/ eating, drinking, meds &amp; health)<\/em><\/span><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em> and especially no rejection for the organ<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.
