They were just miserable most of the day. They were chasing some pretty high blood sugars for a good portion of the day. Several insulin adjustments were made. Then they had some lows for a bit. I know I mentioned this before, but this is par for the course. They went from having a partially, although very very minimally (it was still producing some insulin even though even that was beginning to putter out), working pancreas to no pancreas at all. Figuring out the blood sugar during these first few weeks is one of the things I have seen families talk about a lot in my group. Thank God, we are in great hands and they monitor those numbers like hawks. There is always a DISC doctor on call or in the hospital to walk through any changes that need to be made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My was also really nauseous until evening. They had that dang puke bag with them again for a good portion of the day. It just makes me so sad to see them that way. Their pain had increased a bit during the day as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The twins and I ran some errands and while we were out, we got some art supplies and a couple of the mini verse blind boxes. Mylin has been loving those! It was so cute as soon as we said we got them, Mylin wanted to start building them. Between the sticker coloring book, the metallic colored pencils, and the three blind boxes they spent a couple of hours just hanging out around the little hospital table. Blesses my little mama heart as you could imagine. It definitely lifted Mylin spirits as well and was a great distraction from how they were feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team did have to attach a drain bag to the G-tube for a while. I think that helped relieve some of the pain and nausea. It filled up pretty quickly and even got clogged at the end. Gross I know. This is just the reality they\u2019ve only had the abdominal drain out for a day or two, so it makes sense that there would be excess fluid. Mylin was saying their tummy was in a bit of pain, and you could tell they were pretty bloated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were feeling a little better before we left for the night. I\u2019m just hoping that both Mylin and Daniel get in a really good nights rest tonight. I\u2019m also hoping that Mylin continues to feel better tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think we all learned to take things a little slower, and have Mylin eat smaller meals more often.
