She had a rough night last night, but is able to sleep today for the most part. Riley required a blood transfusion due to her pancreas oozing badly. &nbsp;It took about 4 hours to remove her pancreas which was necrotic and badly scarred. &nbsp;Her islet cells came mostly from the head of the pancreas because the rest was so badly damaged. The islet cell goal was +5,000 IE\/kg and they got 4,700 IE\/kg from Riley. &nbsp;Hopefully, that&#8217;s enough! &nbsp;The goal for now is to keep Riley&#8217;s glucose stable, within 20 points, to allow those transplanted islet cells to rest. She&#8217;s in the ICU with 2 round the clock nurses whose sole job is to do just that. &nbsp;I&#8217;ll keep you posted. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Riley had her transplant yesterday.
