For some reason, her glucose spikes in the evening, so they are trying to figure out why that is. &nbsp;The doctor said this isn&#8217;t common so they need to figure out why. It&#8217;s a delicate balance of trying to regulate her with insulin and keeping those precious islet cells happy. &nbsp;Unfortunately, we won&#8217;t know if the glucose fluctuations are affecting the islet cells for up to a year. &nbsp;Our prayer for Riley is that at the end of all of this that she will only need a little bit of insulin help.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cota.org\/uploads\/2825\/images\/IMG_4642.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"434\" height=\"579\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Riley is getting stronger every day! &nbsp;She is able to sit in a chair twice a day for an hour which is huge. &nbsp;GJ tube feeding at a vary small rate was also started.
