As you may or may not be aware (I certainly wasn\u2019t) October is Liver Awareness Month. It is also the same month that Roman was born. I remember that day so clearly: he was the first grandchild on our side of the family and the little boy that made me a \u201cT\u00eda\u201d. What we didn\u2019t know that day was that he had been born with Wilson\u2019s Disease; an inherited genetic condition that is so rare they don\u2019t even test for it at birth. It wasn\u2019t until he was 7 years old and dying of liver failure that we found out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After receiving his lifesaving liver transplant from Vanderbilt Children\u2019s hospital Roman is looking forward to celebrating his 8th birthday on October 22nd. Praise the Lord!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The financial cost of all of this has been mind-blowing for our family. Not only are there medical bills related to Roman\u2019s surgery, hospital stay, and constant testing, but Roman will have costs related to this liver transplant for the rest of his life. This is why our family chose to join with the Children\u2019s Organ Transplant Association. Every single dollar donated to COTA in honor of Roman is available for his lifetime of transplant-related expenses! There is no cost to donate AND all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That being said I am asking all of you to help us reach Roman\u2019s birthday goal of $10,022 by his birthday (10\/22). If 200 people donated just $50 dollars then we could easily reach our goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also help by sharing this post with friends, family, churches, and communities. As always thank you everyone for your prayers and encouragement. It is a long road ahead, and what a blessing it is to be supported along the way by all of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
