Rosie was diagnosed with Maple Syrup Urine Disease when she was four days old. She went in a serious metabolic crisis when she was seven days old. We almost lost her when she was 10 days old.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">That day we promised to do everything we could to get her the best care possible.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Rosie was cured of her MSUD when she received a living donor liver transplant on 10\/2\/14. She was nine months old.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">There were immediate complications.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">These complications caused her to endure &nbsp;over two years of drains, procedures, admissions, and additional medications. Our family relocated in June 2015, from Thousand Oaks, CA to Pittsburgh, PA, so Rosie could be close to her medical team.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">In October of 2016, everyone knew it was time to give Rosie a second chance. Her liver is failing. She is going to get a new liver.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">On December 15, 2016, Rosie was listed for a new liver.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">We are hopeful that this new liver will help Rosie overcome the complications she faced with her first transplant.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">However, there are no guarantees.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Rosie&rsquo;s medical expenses are forever.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">She will be on medication for life. Co-pays, driving to and from the hospital, parking, lost wages, medical supplies, and so much more.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">We appreciate you supporting Rosie.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">We ask that you keep her in your prayers.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Spread awareness on organ donations and register to be an organ donor.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Rare diseases are not rare.
