Today is Rose’s 2nd liverversary. We still to this day do not know who the person is, but because someone selflessly signed up to be an organ donor .. Rose is alive. We get to have her here on this Earth with all of us. The second picture is Rose last year (still fighting for her life due to post transplant complications and receiving treatment for PTLD, a rare form of cancer that can affect organ transplant recipients). The third picture is of Rose this year.. 2 years post transplant. She is thriving, no longer needing therapy sessions multiple times a week to catch up developmentally, she doesn’t need any medical device or feeding tube or chest tube. She has a little brother to play with and the sun shines just a little brighter on all of us. The last photo is of Rose and Glenda just a couple of weeks after they both had their liver transplants. Glenda received the other part of the donor liver that Baby Rose did and they shared the donor liver. One liver saved two people and I imagine their hero angel donor saved many others. I hope we get to know their family one day. We’ve written them letters but have not heard anything back. Please ensure you are signed up to be an organ donor.
