She\u2019s also starting to enjoy her pur\u00e9es and we\u2019re celebrating every bit of progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve been working hard to keep her as developmentally on track as possible. A sick heart affects everything, so we spend a lot of time keeping her out of bed, helping her sit up, play, roll around, and explore. We also take little adventures around the hospital halls whenever we can. Sabrina rides in her little side hip carrier like it\u2019s a tiny saddle, and I hold the IV pole and keep her steady. She loves being upright and taking everything in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a lot of work for her, but she has been such a trooper. I told her that the deal is that if she\u2019s not going to spend that energy eating bottles (we\u2019re still on continuous feeds), then we\u2019re going to play like it\u2019s our job. She\u2019s doing so well and showing us every day how determined she is \u2014 especially when she\u2019s working hard at something and sticks her little tongue out, which she does all the time. It\u2019s her signature move, and it makes all of us smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re also navigating the holidays the best we can \u2014 finding joy wherever it shows up and trying to make space for little moments that feel warm and normal. This weekend, Grandma D came to visit, and we even got some special time together as a family in the hospital\u2019s sibling playroom.
