We\u2019ve been a little quiet lately because we\u2019ve been very busy training to get ready for Sabrina to come home. \"\ud83d\udc9c\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means learning and practicing everything \u2014 administering her medications, managing her milrinone pump, CPR training, and learning her feeding pump. Sabrina is doing a great job taking most of her formula by bottle, but she still needs some extra support through the feeding pump right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday afternoon, Sabrina is scheduled to have a more secure central line placed (called a Broviac). She\u2019ll be under general anesthesia, which is always a little nerve-wracking with a heart kiddo, so we would really appreciate good thoughts and prayers for a smooth procedure and recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once her new line is in place, we\u2019ll do a period of caring for her completely on our own here in the hospital \u2014 all her meds, feeds, and line care \u2014 and then, fingers crossed, we\u2019ll be cleared to go home. We aren\u2019t putting an exact timeline on it yet, but our focus is simply getting our girl home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This stage feels overwhelming and exciting all at once. We\u2019re still waiting \u2014 but soon we\u2019ll be waiting together, in our own home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Christmas Day, before we even knew Sabrina would be downgraded to 1B, Audric said to me, \u201cSiSi, come home.\u201d He\u2019s been making so much progress with his speech, and hearing that was incredibly emotional. That was his Christmas wish \u2014 and now it\u2019s coming true. Since then, he\u2019s been very vocal: \u201cSiSi come home. Mama come home. Dada come home.\u201d All accompanied by definitive foot stomps. He wants us all together, and that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re working toward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
