July 2024<\/strong> Just eight months ago, Erin looked the best she had in her entire life. Despite post-transplant challenges of diabetes, migraines and chronic GI issues, her lung function would hit an all-time high of 95%! She was studying photography, had a boyfriend, and moved out on her own. Unfortunately, Erin began suffering chronic rejection at the end of April and her lung function has rapidly decreased below 20%. We now find ourselves starting the journey towards a second double lung transplant. We couldn’t endure this journey without you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erin Culbertson, daughter of Paul and Karla Culbertson of Green Bay, was born in 2001 and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Due to this disease, Erin’s lung function was severely affected and doctors recommended a double lung transplant to help prolong her life.  Erin recently had her double lung transplant surgery under the care of the doctors at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children\u2019s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. In Green Bay, volunteers are raising an estimated $50,000 for COTA in honor of Erin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
