Isaiah was born in March 2019, and just a month later his tiny body endured what no child should ever face. In April, he was the victim of severe abuse that left him with a broken femur, a fractured ankle, several fractured vertebrae, two brain bleeds, and lacerations on his liver and kidney. During follow-up care for those injuries, doctors discovered another hidden challenge \u2014 Isaiah was born with biliary atresia<\/strong>, a rare and serious liver disease. He underwent the Kasai procedure<\/strong> as an infant in hopes of preserving his liver for as long as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the abuse, Isaiah was placed in foster care, where he received the love and protection he desperately needed. In August 2020, he was officially adopted into a forever family who has walked every step of this medical journey alongside him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Isaiah is six years old and has fought with more courage in his short life than many do in a lifetime. Despite everything he has endured, he is a joyful, curious, and rambunctious little boy who loves bugs, snakes, and watching YouTube videos. His laughter is infectious, and his resilience continues to inspire everyone who knows him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isaiah has now reached the point where he needs a liver transplant<\/strong> to continue his journey. The Children\u2019s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) has given us a way to ensure Isaiah has the support he needs, not just for this transplant, but for the lifetime of care that comes with it. Every dollar raised goes directly to transplant-related expenses and will follow Isaiah throughout his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isaiah deserves the chance to keep growing, exploring, and living an adventurous childhood. Thank you for being part of his story and his future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Children\u2019s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation\u2019s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA\u2019s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
