While we were initially told a transplant might be needed in 12\u201316 months, it now appears Max may need a kidney transplant much sooner\u2014potentially as&nbsp;early as this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of this change, we need to increase efforts to raise awareness about Max\u2019s need for a living kidney donor. Living donation offers the best outcomes, and time is critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you or someone you know may be interested in learning more about becoming a living donor specifically for Max, please visit his living donor microsite&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nkr.org\/WGG943\">nkr.org\/WGG943<\/a>&nbsp;It provides detailed information about living kidney donation and explains the process step by step, including how to get started through the National Kidney Registry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are also continuing to raise funds&nbsp;for&nbsp;COTA for Team Max,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cota.org\/cotaforteammax\">cota.org\/COTAforTeamMax<\/a>&nbsp;which&nbsp;helps assist with&nbsp;transplant-related expenses. We are so grateful for the support and donations&nbsp;COTA for Team Max has&nbsp;received so far\u2014every gift has made a meaningful difference. While the traffic and contributions aren\u2019t quite what we had initially hoped, we know that sharing Max\u2019s story with more people can help extend that impact even further. Sharing his story, donor microsite, and&nbsp;COTA fundraising site\u2014especially at this time\u2014makes a tremendous difference.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social media posts are a wonderful start, and we are so thankful for every post and share. At the same time, connecting directly with friends, coworkers, and local networks can make an even bigger impact. Every person who sees Max\u2019s story could be the one to help. Max also has cards with QR codes linking directly to both sites; if you\u2019d be willing to take some and pass them along, it would mean so much to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not an easy update to share, but we are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support&nbsp;of COTA for Team Max&nbsp;that have carried us this far.
