Stetson’s journey to a new liver started on June 18, 2024, with a call from the Sutton transplant team regarding a liver for him. We rushed to the hospital for lab tests and assessments and everything went smoothly. Although Stetson experienced some rejection issues during his recovery, the medical team closely monitored his condition and treated him accordingly. After a few setbacks, Stetson fully recovered and was able to go home on July 25, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following his hospital stay, he went home for a brief period to see his brother Colton, but then had to come back to Orlando for clinic appointments on Mondays and Thursdays to monitor his labs, adjust his medication, and ensure his tack levels were stable, which is vital for his anti-rejection treatment. Stetson’s behavior had changed, and he seemed irritable and not himself. I informed the team, and we decided to admit him to the hospital. His liver enzyme levels were high, and he underwent a liver biopsy on August 14, which revealed acute cellular rejection. He is now receiving appropriate treatment and his blood pressure is being monitored. Stetson’s liver transplant journey has been a journey of self-discovery and growth for me, filled with questions and answers about liver medications and rejection signs. I’m grateful for the support of Stetson’s liver team, who have guided me through every step of the way and helped me understand the complexities of this journey. I’m excited to continue learning and growing alongside Stetson as we navigate this rollercoaster ride of emotions and challenges. We are humbled by the outpouring of love and generosity from our friends and family.
